Hello wonderful people,
We have been talking about change, being connected, being inviting, engaging, and relational not just with GOD but with each other as well. As I sit here letting these words race around in my mind. I wonder and imagine how we can do more to make these words become a part of our day-to-day lives with Jesus who invites us to do just that. Is this the “purpose-filled life” we read about in a devotional book, a podcast we listen to, or even a TV show we watch? How are we going to follow in Jesus’ footsteps? What does that even look like? How do we? I think John Wesley made it pretty clear. Do no harm, do all the best you can, and do everything for the glory of GOD. Let us jump right in and explain that all these things make a major change in our lives. This is why it is so difficult for us because we do not like change at all. We love to be in our comfort zones and not be disturbed. That is why it is going to take some challenging work for us to change, even a little. YES, some of us will need to take baby steps for us to even talk about anything to change, and for others, we will take sledgehammers and knock down barriers and walls without blinking an eye. How can we be so different and yet be together? That is where being connectional comes into play. If we keep up walls and hidden barriers that keep us apart, then how do we do the things Jesus’ ministry is saying to us? Let us invite people! A personal invitation to anyone, everyone. The greatest way to bring people to Christ is to ask them! Then be relational and stay with them as they walk into their faith journey, and may the Holy Spirit lead us as we walk with them. This isn’t just a “point-and-let-you go in peace” type of thing but rather a Hey let’s walk together and see what purpose GOD has in store for you. Then may I walk along with you on this journey. We with GOD are about to take a beautiful eye-opening trip. Helping them and us be in a relationship with GOD, Jesus Christ, and understand the Holy Spirit that is waiting for us to acknowledge and open up to. As we put this into action it also makes us better disciples and children of GOD. “Making disciples for the transformation of the world.”
Small groups, MAKE ONE! Don’t wait for someone, if you feel led, pray, and discern where the Spirit is leading you. Look up a book of the Bible you like or want to understand more of, how about a book that stirs you inside? If it is affecting, you I bet GOD is having it affect someone else as well. Take the opportunity GOD is laying on your heart and spirit. This is how we bring people together to come and have conversations, explore, and even help have a clearer understanding of who we are in Christ. To be led rather than to lead. To hear the voice of the shepherd and follow. Willing and able? Are we both? Let us not be those we see or hear about, those who are the stubborn bunch who like to dig their heels in when they feel they are losing control or do not want change. Jesus fought with them constantly, we have conflicts with them still today. Let us join in a place that is compassionate, and full of mercy and grace. That loves the way Jesus loves us. This is the summer of new beginnings are we ready? Are we eager to go where we have not gone before? This isn’t just about the church it is about our daily lives! What actions are you prepared to change in your lives to be closer to Jesus?Wishing you all a wonderful Summer!
